JetBlue Terminal 5 and 6 Redevelopment at JFK Airport
LiRo provided an extensive array of environmental consulting services to JetBlue Airways for the redevelopment of both Terminal 5 and Terminal 6 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFKIA). The work at Terminal 5 has included contaminated soil management, dewatering, UST removal, removal of a hydrant fueling system, asbestos/lead design, monitoring, and environmental oversight for construction activities. LiRo also developed plans for Health and Safety, Soil Management and Spill Prevention and Control. In addition, LiRo prepared asbestos abatement design documents for the fueling line and existing buildings in the project areas as well as full asbestos survey and design work for Terminal 6.
LiRo was further tasked with performing an extensive evaluation of "baseline" subsurface conditions of JetBlue's air-side property collecting hundreds of samples to document the nature and extent of pre-existing contamination for incorporation into the lease agreement with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
