Wagner Park Reopens Stronger

August 18, 2025

Wagner Park, a beloved green space in Lower Manhattan stretching from Battery Place and 1st Place to the northern edge of The Battery, closed in 2023 for a major reconstruction to improve climate resilience as part of the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency Project. The redesigned park includes a new flood protection system with both passive and deployable features to help guard against a 100-year storm. A highlight of the project, the Wagner Park Pavilion, will open in phases: a classroom in Fall 2025, followed by a dining venue in 2026. The park will continue to serve as a vibrant public space with art installations and free community programming. LiRo-Hill is providing comprehensive construction management services for this project and for the wider coastal resiliency initiative in Lower Manhattan. Read more here.
