LiRo Appoints Robert Young, AIA, RIBA, NCARB to Senior Vice President/ Architecture

(Syosset, NY, December 3, 2021) The LiRo Group, (LiRo), a national, multidisciplinary project and construction management, engineering, architecture, and technology firm, is proud to announce that Robert Young, AIA, RIBA, has been appointed Senior Vice President/Business Unit Head – Architecture.

In his new role, Mr. Young will direct all architectural activities, including design services, program management, interiors planning, and construction administration. “I’m excited to join such a remarkable team of professionals – thinkers, do-ers, technology super-geniuses and industry leaders – dedicated to providing integrated multidisciplinary design and construction management services at an unparalleled level to an exceptionally broad range of clients, public and private,” Young said. “The firm’s commitment to leveraging the added value of an integrated approach to client services affords us the best opportunity to positively impact the physical context of people’s daily lives. Most recently an Architecture Director with STV, Mr. Young previously held the position of Associate Principal in the New York office of Grimshaw, where he focused on large-scale, technically complicated projects, including Terra: The Sustainability Pavilion at Expo2020 in Dubai, the new Terminal 1 at Newark International Airport and the re-imagining of the historic Triple Crown venue Belmont Park.

As a Design Director at Gensler DC, Principal and Design Director at Perkins+Will DC, and an Associate Partner at Polshek Partnership Architects in New York, Mr. Young was responsible for the design and team leadership for many significant cultural and academic projects throughout the US, including the entry pavilion at the Brooklyn Museum; The National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia; The Newseum in Washington DC; Scandinavia House in New York; the College of Business at UNT in Denton, Texas; and the Re-Use Plan for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC.

As a founding member of Bernard Tschumi Architects NYC, Mr. Young served as Project Director on such notable projects as: Tres Grand Bibliotheque, Paris, France; Flushing Meadows Corona Park Master Plan, New York; and Metropont, Lausanne, Switzerland. A designer with Bernard Tschumi on more than 40 international competitions, Mr. Young has had his models and drawings for BTA/NY exhibited worldwide, including in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York and the Louisiana Museum in Denmark.

Mr. Young has taught at Yale as a Guest Lecturer in Contemporary Architectural Theory, and served on design juries at Columbia GSAPP, Yale, SUNY Buffalo and the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation, and has lectured at Pratt, LSU, and the National Archives in Washington DC.

He received an AB in Visual Studies from Dartmouth College in 1984, and a Master of Architecture from Yale in 1988, and has been licensed since 1992.
