Making public transportation more accessible is a crucial step towards creating inclusive communities. The highly anticipated LIRR Copiague Station has opened after being made fully accessible in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Highlights of this station upgrade include a street-level elevator, accessible entrances/exits, enhancements to parking, electrical and mechanical improvements, new platform tactile strips and communication and safety security systems, better wayfinding, and new LED lighting and Help Points. These enhancements not only benefit individuals with disabilities but also enhances the overall experience for all passengers.
