Al oversees and is responsible for all of LiRo‑Hill’s legal, corporate and regulatory compliance, insurance, and risk‑management matters. His role includes providing strategic advice and counsel in reviewing and negotiating engineering, construction, and design project agreements, as well as joint‑venture arrangements and asset and stock acquisition agreements. He also leads the company’s labor and employment matters, state and local regulatory compliance initiatives, claims management, personal injury/commercial litigation and real estate portfolio matters.
Al possesses a broad and deep legal background, having served in increasingly senior roles at Long Island Lighting Company, KeySpan Corporation, and as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for National Grid USA, an international electric and gas utility and one of the world’s largest investor‑owned energy companies. In these roles, Al was responsible not only for a wide range of legal, commercial, regulatory, and operational issues, but also for all finance, securities, and corporate governance matters at the utility companies. His responsibilities included drafting and reviewing all SEC filings—such as annual, quarterly, and current reports, proxy statements, and registration statements for the issuance of debt and equity securities—ensuring compliance with federal securities laws and disclosure obligations, and advising senior leadership and the Board on governance practices, fiduciary duties, and regulatory disclosure requirements.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Hofstra University and his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law, and is licensed to practice in New York.
